Project Overview

EWB at Ohio State has partnered with N'jau village in The Gambia since 2016 — now in its ninth year of partnership. The Gambia is a small country on the western tip of Africa, surrounded by Senegal.

The project began after the community's garden was damaged by animals and expanded to address critical water access needs.

Completed Infrastructure

The team designed and installed a borehole with solar-powered pumps, 12 water taps across the village, and two 5,000-liter storage tanks. A team of five traveled in December 2024 to conduct water quality testing and soil testing for the next project phase.

Current Phase

The chapter is currently designing an open-air community marketplace where residents can sell agricultural produce. The market is being developed in partnership with the Women's Initiative of Gambia and local contractors.
